THE STORY

A few years after their father Blayne’s death, sisters Tess and Jackie return to his friends’ annual golf tournament, the EBOB, where memories of Blayne’s drinking and larger-than-life personality still linger. While Tess embraces the nostalgia, Jackie struggles with grief and anxiety as the group drinks, jokes, and awkwardly honors Blayne with a memorial tree planted on the course. Tensions rise throughout the day as Jackie’s panic builds and the sisters clash over how differently they remember their father.

The tournament descends into absurd chaos when a supposedly dead skunk attacks the group just as arborists begin cutting down the “Blayne Tree,” sparking a frantic attempt to save it. Beneath the comedy and mayhem, the sisters are forced to confront the pain of Blayne’s alcoholism and the ways it shaped their lives. In the aftermath, Tess and Jackie reconnect, replanting the tree together and finally finding a sense of understanding, forgiveness, and peace.

THEME EXPLORATION

This film explores grief, healing, and the deeply personal ways people navigate loss. At its center are two estranged sisters who reunite to honor their late father, forcing them to confront both their shared pain and the complicated legacy he left behind. Alongside them, the father’s longtime friends are pushed to reckon with the sorrow they’ve buried for years, learning that avoiding grief only delays the process of healing.

Through these intertwined journeys, the film celebrates the importance of family, friendship, and community in moments of loss. Beneath its humor and chaos lies a reminder that even in our most difficult moments, connection can help carry us through.

SUPPORT THE FILM

“More than anything, I want this film to resonate with people struggling not only with grief, but also with alcoholism, addiction, and the lasting impact those struggles can have on families and loved ones. My hope is to create a story that sparks empathy and conversation, while shedding light on the emotional ripple effects addiction leaves behind and the grief that can follow in its wake.

This story has lived with me for years, and over time my desire to share it has only grown. I believe these themes are deeply human and universally felt, and I hope the film can offer audiences both honesty and a sense of connection”. – Halle Frieden
